There have been major changes to the NYS Armed Guard Program.

In order to attend an annual in-service class you must bring your armed guard license, your pistol permit and your drivers license.  If you are a retired Police/Peace officer you must bring your retired ID card.  Classes must be scheduled by the school 45 days in advance.  The new paperwork requires that the school specify the date time and location of all training.  You cannot set a convienent time for you to attend anymore.  You must come on the dates and times that the school has applied for permission from the DCJS to teach the class.

In order to attend a 47 hour Armed Guard class for initial training, you must have a security guard license.  You must have completed the 8 hour pre-employment class and the 16 hour OTJ class.  You must have a valid pistol permit.  The new paperwork requires that the school specify the date time and location of all training.  You cannot set a convienent time for you to attend anymore.  You must come on the dates and times that the school has applied for permission from the DCJS to teach the class.
